Boston Dermatologist Wins Skin Ageing & Challenges Best Scientific Award 2023 for Research on Skin Biology, Aging

Professor Vladimir A. Botchkarev, MD, PhD, a distinguished Professor of Dermatology and Co-Director at the Boston University Center for Aging Research, has received the Skin Ageing & Challenges Best Scientific Award for 2023.

The award, which was presented at The Skin Ageing & Challenges 2023 Conference in Lisbon, is for his paper titled “Skin Aging in Long-Lived Naked Mole-Rats: Mechanisms and Perspectives.” 

This study delves into the aging process of naked mole rats’ skin and reveals insights into their resistance to age-related skin cancer. 

 “The Skin Ageing & Challenges Best Scientific Award not only celebrates Professor Botchkarev’s scientific achievements but also recognizes his commendable character and humanity,” says Professor Marvin Edeas of Institut Cochin, INSERM 1016 at University Paris Descartes, France, in a news release. “This award reflects his dedication to advancing knowledge in skin biology and aging, showcasing his profound impact on the field.” Professor Edeas is a member of the Skin Ageing & Challenges 2023 Scientific Committee.

The 15th edition of the Skin Ageing & Challenges International Conference is set to take place on November 7-8, 2024, at the Corinthia Palace in Malta.
